
NICU Survival Skills
This presentation will feature a presentation by Terry Johnson on managing relationships at work. Terry has been a NICU nurse, neonatal nurse practitioner, perinatal grief counselor, industry consultant for nutrition, and healthcare consultant for patient safety and employee-related issues such as communication, work styles, and the stress of caring. She was the keynote speaker at NANN's 2019 conference and is currently the Director of Education and Professional Development at Prolacta Bioscience.
The presentation will describe the impact of daily stressors experienced by the NICU staff both from work and life related sources. These stressors have been magnified over the last two years of working in a pandemic environment. The concept of "prehab" for the professional will be introduced. Strategies to utilize prehab skills to down modulate stress will be reviewed.
