From Novice to Expert: Supporting Every Generation in the NICU

Nurse retention is critical to sustaining a safe and experienced bedside workforce amid the ongoing nursing shortage. NANN's Membership Committee and a panel of peers will explore the key drivers of nurse attrition, including burnout, workforce aging, educational capacity limits, and rising patient acuity. They will also address the direct impact on patient outcomes. Panelists will discuss evidence‑based organizational and individual strategies that support retention, such as effective staffing models, authentic leadership engagement, supportive work environments, and wellness initiatives. Attendees will gain practical insights to advocate for workplace changes that strengthen nurse well‑being, retention, and quality of care.
